The Bohemian
Inspired by a romantic look back at Coconut Grove’s bygone bohemian era, designers Ruben and Katie Gutierrez transformed this compact townhouse into a soulful, multifunctional space for meeting with therapy clients. The project embraces the free-spirited, art-driven energy that once defined the neighborhood—reinterpreting it through a modern, layered, and deeply personal lens.
Color becomes the heartbeat of the environment: lush greens, sun-washed ochres, and saturated blues mingle to create an atmosphere that feels both expressive and soothing. Textural richness—woven fibers, artisanal ceramics, hand-troweled finishes—grounds the space in warmth while celebrating the eclectic creativity of old Grove artists and wanderers.
Designed to support meaningful conversations and emotional ease, each vignette feels intimate yet vibrant. Custom furniture, curated artwork, and unexpected material pairings bring a sense of joy and discovery, offering clients a comforting place to land while still sparking inspiration.
